Evils in Continuity

Join the Institute for Humanities Research (IHR) for a presentation by Imge Oranli on "Evils in Continuity: Comparative, Interdisciplinary and Postcolonial Reflections."

Imge Oranli, assistant professor of philosophy in the College of Integrative Sciences and Arts, will discuss her “Reframing Theories of Evil: Interventions in Philosophy” seed grant project and methodology.

This project, funded by the IHR, brings together philosophical theories of evil to examine discourses surrounding major political evils: terrorism, genocide and genocide denial.

The underlying premise of this study suggests that we cannot make sense of political evils that take place globally if we look at these events with a Eurocentric theoretical lens. By taking a more global approach, the aim of this project is to broaden the philosophical study of evil through a critical and interdisciplinary methodology.
