Sam Joy was born in Phoenix and raised on his dad’s farm along with a cattle operation on the north side of the Salt River Valley. This lavishly illustrated book tells the story of the ancient Hohokam, who developed an extensive irrigation system in the Valley; early rural life, farm practices, how the Depression and World War II changed the Valley, and much more.
